Dr. Mónica Moreno
Dr. Mónica Moreno holds a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Salamanca and an MSc in Applied Chemistry and Polymeric Materials from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). During the 2007-2008 academic year, she studied at the University of Bristol (United Kingdom) as an Erasmus student, where she conducted research in the Soft Matter Group on the crystallization of colloidal hard spheres. She also completed a summer internship at Inasmet-Tecnalia in the Materials Characterization Department.
She obtained her PhD at POLYMAT - University of the Basque Country within the Chemical Engineering Group, where her research focused on the aqueous polymerization of renewable-resource-based monomers for sustainable coating applications. During her doctoral studies, she carried out a three-month research stay at AkzoNobel (Slough, United Kingdom), working on waterborne paint technologies.
Dr. Moreno is the Head of the Projects Office at POLYMAT, where she leads the Centre's research management strategy and oversees the development, implementation and monitoring of competitive research projects. She supports researchers throughout the entire project lifecycle, from proposal preparation to project execution and reporting, with particular expertise in Horizon Europe, the European Research Council (ERC), Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), EIC and other national and international funding programmes.
She coordinates the Projects Office team, contributes to POLYMAT's strategic planning for research funding and institutional development, and works closely with funding agencies and international partners to strengthen the Centre's competitiveness. She also represents POLYMAT in national and international research management networks, promoting best practices and contributing to the professionalisation of research management.
