Maximiliano Agazzi obtained his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the National University of Río Cuarto (UNRC, Argentina). He received his Ph.D. from UNRC in March 2018, working on the synthesis of photoactive molecules for the inactivation of pathogenic microorganisms. In April 2018, he started his postdoctoral studies at the INIFTA Institute (National University of La Plata, CONICET, Argentina) on responsive polyelectrolyte complexes for biomedical applications. In 2020, he obtained a permanent position as an assistant researcher at the IDAS Institute (UNRC, CONICET). In 2022, he was a DAAD Scholar at Universität Duisburg-Essen (Germany), working on the development of antimicrobial nanofibers based on polyamines. Maximiliano joined POLYMAT in March 2024 as a postdoc in the Responsive Polymer Therapeutics Group under the supervision of Prof. Marcelo Calderón. Since September 2025, he has been a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow, where his research focuses on the design of advanced materials for the delivery of biomolecules for sustainable agriculture and plant genetic engineering.
Throughout his career, he has developed interdisciplinary expertise in organic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry, polymer chemistry, nanotechnology, and microbiology. His current research focuses on designing advanced materials and nanodelivery systems for the controlled delivery of bioactive compounds and biomacromolecules in agricultural applications, with particular emphasis on sustainable crop protection and plant biotechnology.
